Artifictions

Referencing items from childhood, these contrived relics embody the memories of an American upbringing, with distressed and corroded surfaces reflecting forsaken purpose that has been well-worn by a gradual transition into fatherhood. The lidded urns, for example, display a solemn funerary as an auxiliary object of the unnoticed passing of one’s childhood years, the precise ending of which can often be very elusive.

The concept for the "Checkpoint Urns" was inspired by the idea of death being just a "checkpoint" to the afterlife. The lid was designed to look like the checkpoint object in Sonic the Hedgehog and the handles are molded from a Sega Genesis controller. With a wood ash surface, this urn looks ancient and retro simultaneously.
