TEACHING PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT
It is my belief that some of the most crucial elements for success in a teaching art studio environment are inspiration, experimentation, productivity and perseverance. I strive to create a classroom environment and curriculum that is built upon these elements. I believe field trips to museums and galleries are a crucial part of the development of a young artist, as well as opportunities to travel abroad to visit landmarks of art history and masterful museums. Additionally, it is my primary goal as an educator to help each advanced student to find their own artistic voice and develop the most appropriate way of expressing it through their work. The discovery of an artistic voice is like learning a language which moves the student artist beyond basic design aesthetics into the realms of artistic purpose, expression, and communication with the viewer.
